Sambucus nigra 'Black Lace'(s)

Black elder 'Black Lace'(s) is a broad and loose-growing large shrub or bush. It usually reaches a height of 3 - 4 m and is approx. 2 - 3 m wide. It usually grows 40 - 60 cm per year.

High leaf ornamental value. The deciduous leaves of the Black elder 'Black Lace'(s) are black-blue, pinnate, opposite and slit. Black elder 'Black Lace'(s) turns bright yellow in autumn. Long lasting.

Grey, corky, longitudinally furrowed bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

The pink-coloured flowers of Black elder 'Black Lace'(s) appear in umbrella racemes from June to July. These are slightly fragrant.

The black drupes have an aromatic, tart flavour. The blue-grey flesh of these round drupes is juicy. Ripening time from September.

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady position.
