The False acacia 'Tortuosa' (Robinia pseudoacacia) is an umbrella-shaped, picturesque small tree with decorative, brown, pod-shaped fruits that remain on the tree for a very long time. These exude a strong fragrance. It produces white flowers in clusters from the end of May to the beginning of June. The False acacia 'Tortuosa' also has pinnate, dark green leaves. In a sunny location with well-drained, loose, sandy soil, it usually reaches a height of around 12 metres and is around 8 metres wide.

The shoots of Robinia pseudoacacia 'Tortuosa' are spiny, red-brown in colour.

Leaves

The deciduous leaves of False acacia 'Tortuosa' are dark green, pinnate, alternate. False acacia 'Tortuosa' turns bright yellow in autumn.

Bark

Dark grey, net-like torn bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

Flower

The white flowers of False acacia 'Tortuosa' appear in clusters from the end of May to the beginning of June. They are strongly scented.

Fruit

The brown, pod-shaped fruits of Robinia pseudoacacia 'Tortuosa' are particularly decorative. These appear from September. Very long-lasting.
