The Wild service tree (Sorbus torminalis) is an ovoid tree with decorative, orange-coloured fruits. It produces white flowers arranged in umbrella clusters from May to June. The Wild service tree also has medium green leaves. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, calcareous, nutrient-rich, weakly acidic soil, it usually reaches a height of around 20 metres and grows to a width of around 15 metres.

Growth

Wild service tree is an ovoid growing tree with a translucent, closed crown. It usually reaches a height of 10 - 20 m and is approx. 7 - 15 m wide. As a rule, it grows 40 - 60 cm per year.

Shoots

The shoots of Sorbus torminalis are olive green.

The deciduous leaves of Wild service tree are medium green, alternate, lobed. Wild service tree turns bright orange-yellow in autumn.

Flower

The white flowers of Wild service tree appear in umbrella clusters from May to June.

Fruit

The orange-coloured berries of Sorbus torminalis are particularly decorative. These appear from October.
