Pinus cembra

Eastern Europe to Central Europe.

Pyramidal, picturesque.

The Arolla pine is evergreen. Its needles are dark green.

Copper-brown, flaking, scale-like bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

The oval, brown cones of Pinus cembra appear from October. The young cones are purple in colour.

Pinus cembra is a deep-rooting plant and, depending on the soil, forms extensive branching roots.

Preferred location in a sunny position.

The Arolla pine has good frost hardiness.

Normal soil.

Solitary

The plant has a medium water requirement.

This plant is susceptible to snow pressure. In snowy areas, it is therefore advisable to wrap the branches with string. Otherwise, they may split apart and not fully recover. When the snow season is over, the strings must of course be removed again.

Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the soil is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).
