The Western yellow pine (Pinus ponderosa) is a tree that grows broadly in the shape of a cone and usually reaches a height of around 20 metres and a width of around 8 metres. Its needle-shaped leaves are dark green in colour. This shrub is well tolerant of frost and prefers well-drained, sandy, loamy soil in a sunny position.
