The Persian ironwood 'Vanessa' (Parrotia persica) is an upright, multi-stemmed large shrub or small tree with decorative, green-brown fruits. It produces red, star-shaped flowers from March to April. The Persian ironwood 'Vanessa' also has leathery, egg-shaped, medium-green leaves. The bronze-coloured shoots are also an interesting sight. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, loamy soil, it usually reaches a height of around 8 metres and grows to around 6 metres wide.
