Buffalo currant is an upright and vigorous growing shrub. It usually reaches a height of 2 - 3 m and is approx. 1.5 - 3 m wide. It usually grows 30 - 50 cm per year.

The deciduous leaves of the Buffalo currant are light green, roundish, alternate, lobed. Buffalo currant turns bright purple-red in autumn.

Brown-yellow bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

The golden yellow flowers of Buffalo currant appear in clusters from April to May. They are pleasantly fragrant.

Ribes aureum is a shallow-rooting plant and, depending on the soil, forms sparsely branched roots.

Preferred location in a sunny to shady position.

The Buffalo currant has good frost hardiness.

No special requirements.

The plant has a medium water requirement.
