Prunus tenella 'Fire Hill'

Southeast Europe to Caucasus.

Dwarf Russian almond 'Fire Hill' is an upright, loose and spreading small shrub. It usually reaches a height of 1 - 1.5 m and is approx. 0.7 - 2 m wide. Slow growing. Usually grows 15 - 30 cm per year.

The deciduous leaves of the Dwarf Russian almond 'Fire Hill' are dark green, lanceolate, glossy, alternate, serrated. They are about 4 - 8 cm in size.

Silver-grey bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

The pink-red flowers appear from April to May. They grow to about 2 - 3 cm and are slightly fragrant.

Prunus tenella 'Fire Hill' is a heartroot and, depending on the soil, forms runner-forming roots.

Preferred location in a sunny, sheltered position.

The Dwarf Russian almond 'Fire Hill' has good frost hardiness.

The plant has a medium water requirement.

- Cut back vigorously after flowering.
- This plant does not tolerate heavy soil. If necessary, the soil structure can be improved when planting by working in sand and mature compost.

Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the soil is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).
