The Higan cherry 'Fukubana' (Prunus subhirtella) is an upright, overhanging, picturesque large shrub that produces dark pink, cupped flowers. They appear in April. The Higan cherry 'Fukubana' also has egg-shaped, dark green leaves. In a sunny location with well-drained, humus-rich, calcareous soil, it usually reaches a height of around 6 metres and grows to a width of around 4 metres.

The deciduous leaves of Higan cherry 'Fukubana' are dark green, ovate, alternate, serrated. They are about 6 - 8 cm in size. Higan cherry 'Fukubana' turns bright orange-red in autumn.

Care
