The Tellmann's honeysuckle (Lonicera tellmanniana) is a climbing, overhanging, deciduous plant with decorative, orange-coloured, round fruits. These exude a pleasant fragrance. It produces orange-yellow, tubular flowers arranged in whorls from May to July. The Tellmann's honeysuckle also has roundish, dark green leaves. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, humus-rich, nutrient-rich, loamy soil, it usually reaches a height of around 6 metres and grows to a width of around 4 metres.

Growth

Tellmann's honeysuckle is a climbing plant that grows overhanging and climbing, which can reach a height of 4 - 6 metres and a width of 3 - 4 metres. It usually grows 0.6 - 1 m per year.

Leaves

The deciduous leaves of the Tellmann's honeysuckle are dark green, roundish and opposite. They are about 6 - 10 cm in size. Tellmann's honeysuckle turns bright yellow in autumn.

Bark

Olive-green bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

Flower

The orange-yellow, tubular flowers of Tellmann's honeysuckle appear in whorls from May to July. They are pleasantly fragrant.

Fruit

The orange-coloured, round fruits of Lonicera tellmanniana are particularly decorative.

Location

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady position.

The Tellmann's honeysuckle has good frost hardiness.
