The Higan cherry 'Accolade' (Prunus subhirtella) is an upright, overhanging, picturesque large shrub that produces pink, cupped flowers. They appear in April. The Higan cherry 'Accolade' also has egg-shaped, medium-green leaves. The light green shoots are also an interesting sight. In a sunny, sheltered location with humusy, calcareous, nutrient-rich, sandy, loamy soil, it usually reaches a height of around 8 metres and grows to around 6 metres wide.

The deciduous leaves of Higan cherry 'Accolade' are medium green, ovate, alternate, serrated. They are about 8 - 12 cm tall. Light green shoots. Higan cherry 'Accolade' turns bright orange-yellow in autumn.

The pink-coloured, cupped flowers are semi-double and appear in April. They grow to about 3 - 4 cm in size.

Care
