The Apple 'Prairiefire' (Malus) is a spreading, loose, large shrub with decorative, orange-red, oval fruits. These are medium-sized. It produces magenta-coloured, cup-shaped flowers from May to June. The Apple 'Prairiefire' also has egg-shaped, medium-green leaves. The burgundy-red shoots are also an interesting sight. In a sunny to semi-shady location, it usually reaches a height of around 6 metres and grows to a width of around 5 metres. The Apple 'Prairiefire' makes no particular demands on the soil.

Apple 'Prairiefire' is a spreading and loosely growing large shrub. It usually reaches a height of 4 - 6 m and is approx. 4 - 5 m wide. Rapidly growing.

The deciduous leaves of the Apple 'Prairiefire's are medium green, ovate, serrated. Bordeaux red shoots. Apple 'Prairiefire' turns bright yellow-orange in autumn.

Bark

Red-brown bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

Flower

The magenta-coloured, cupped flowers appear from May to June. These grow to about 3.5 - 4.5 cm in size.

Fruit

The orange-red, oval fruits of Malus 'Prairiefire' are particularly decorative. These appear from August and are medium-sized.

Malus 'Prairiefire' is a heartroot.

Location

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady position.
