The Antarctic beech (Nothofagus antarctica) is a broad, multi-stemmed large shrub that produces greenish-yellow flowers with a pleasant fragrance. They appear from April to May. These produce light brown fruits. They exude a pleasant fragrance. The Antarctic beech also has egg-shaped, medium green leaves. Its bark is dark brown. In a sunny to semi-shady location, it usually reaches a height of approx. 10 m and is approx. 6 m wide. The Antarctic beech makes no special demands on the soil.

Antarctic beech is a broad and multi-stemmed large shrub with a translucent crown. It usually reaches a height of 6 - 10 m and is approx. 3 - 6 m wide. It usually grows 20 - 25 cm per year.
