The Mock orange (Philadelphus coronarius) is an upright, overhanging shrub that produces white, cupped flowers arranged in clusters with a strong fragrance. They appear from May to June. The Mock orange also has matt, lanceolate, dark green leaves. Its bark is dark brown, smooth and shiny. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, humus-rich, nutrient-rich soil, it usually reaches a height of around 4 metres and grows to a width of around 3 metres.

Growth

Mock orange is an upright and overhanging shrub. It usually reaches a height of 3 - 4 m and is approx. 2 - 3 m wide.

The deciduous leaves of the Mock oranges are dark green, lanceolate, matt, opposite. They are about 6 - 9 cm tall. Mock orange turns bright yellow in autumn.

Bark

Dark brown, smooth, shiny bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

Flower

The white, cupped flowers of the Mock orange appear in clusters from May to June. They are strongly scented.

Root

Philadelphus coronarius is a heartroot.
