The Star magnolia (Magnolia stellata) is a dense, branched shrub that produces white, star-shaped flowers with a pleasant fragrance. They appear from March to April. The Star magnolia also has egg-shaped, dark green leaves. Its bark is grey and smooth. In a sunny, sheltered location with well-drained, humus-rich, nutrient-rich, weakly acidic soil, it usually reaches a height of around 3 metres and grows to a width of around 3 metres.
