Vases – More Than Just Simple Water Containers

An overwhelming variety of shapes, subject to fashion trends just like the hottest colors, makes vases the most important accessory and a defining style element.

Flower vases significantly influence the style of an arrangement. That's precisely why their importance shouldn't be underestimated. The selection is vast, and not every item labeled "vase" is exclusively for flowers. Any container that can hold water can be repurposed and become the quiet star of your floral decor. Whether slender or wide, oval, round, or angular, ribbed, matte, or transparent—anything is possible. A colorful mix of shapes, lovingly arranged, looks appealing even without decorative blooms.

The Classic: Glass

Glass or crystal vases have been popular flower containers for centuries, differing mainly in their external form. Their transparency highlights the elegance of the flowers arranged within, allowing the stems to remain visible. However, they are unforgiving of negligence when it comes to regular water changes: the vase water becomes dirty, and stem deposits accumulate at the bottom—all clearly visible. With water left standing for too long, lime scale leaves unsightly marks on the rim. Solutions like flower fresh-keeping agents can help, preventing the vase water from getting dirty, among other benefits.

Chic in Plastic

Plastic has the significant advantage of being unbreakable. The material is inexpensive and perfectly suited for implementing extravagant ideas. Those who enjoy experimenting can use containers in every color—from vibrant to pastel—and dare to pair them with unconventional flower hues. Many liquids and powders commonly used in households are sold in plastic bottles. Once empty, these bottles are wonderfully suited as alternative flower vases.

Purist or Retro Look

For minimalists who prefer understated elegance, cool, modern metal vases are a top choice. While they can hold beautiful floral arrangements, a word of caution: unprotected metals like zinc, copper, silver, and iron are best for decorative purposes only. When filled with water, small metal particles can dissolve, negatively impacting how long your flowers last.

With ceramic vases, you can't go wrong. The colors and shapes of new creations follow strict fashion dictates, and many designers express their creativity through them. A mix of different ceramic vases, even with just a few individual blooms, can create a charming still life.
