Anyone who owns an indoor azalea in their home will definitely not get bored with the plant. This Asian beauty is demanding, but rewards us with its unique floral splendor.

An indoor azalea is quite high-maintenance. The plant feels most comfortable at a pleasant room temperature of 18 to 21 degrees Celsius. It prefers a spot with plenty of light, but not direct sunlight, as the indoor azalea cannot tolerate that. If the plant is not placed right next to a heater or other heat-producing devices, it can bloom continuously for up to two months. For those who want their indoor azalea to thrive even more, it will feel especially at home in cool, well-lit stairwells.

To ensure that the joy of the indoor azalea's blossoms lasts, there are several things to consider. For instance, the plant loves lime-free water. However, even more important is the substrate in which it grows. The indoor azalea, being a close relative of the rhododendron, has adopted its sibling's preferences and prefers acidic soil. So, if you plan to repot your indoor azalea, make sure to use rhododendron soil, as it has the right pH level in the acidic range.
