Properly Placing Houseplants

Houseplants often have one problem: they look especially beautiful in one spot or another in the room, can ideally cover pipes or connections, and adorn the dresser; but unfortunately, that exact spot is then not suitable for them because it's too sunny or too dark, too warm or too cold.

The only remedy is to know the individual species and understand their needs. For this, it's worth a trip to the gardener, who knows exactly the right spot for each of their protégés.

Heat-Loving Living Room Plants

For Yucca palms and similar plants, you can generally orient yourself by the conditions they have in their place of origin. South-facing windows are therefore very suitable for desert plants and all those who like it hot, such as Aloe or Kalanchoe, or also the Agave.

If you have a large living room, you can also try rubber trees or ponytail palms. They too belong to the heat-loving plants and prefer temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius.

The Bedroom - A Plant-Free Zone?

Contrary to persistent rumors, plants are allowed in the bedroom. It's even an ideal location for all those plants that prefer cooler temperatures and appreciate higher humidity. This includes, for example, the colorful Clivia. On a dresser, it quickly becomes an exotic eye-catcher. Moreover, it proves to be an easy-care houseplant.

Other Rooms

The children's room shouldn't be left out when adding greenery. But beware! Poisonous plants are not advisable here, as no one can prevent such a colorful blossom from ending up in a child's mouth. Instead, easy-care varieties that the children can even look after themselves are ideal.

The bathroom is well-heated and humid – and that's precisely what creates an ideal habitat for many plants. Ferns and orchids love this climate. Umbrella papyrus, baby's tears, and mossy stonecrop also feel at home here.

Then there's the kitchen – the simplest room in the house. Because who wouldn't appreciate some fresh herbs here? Pleasantly fragrant and at the same time practical flavor carriers. They definitely represent the best greenery for the kitchen.
