The Zimmerazalea - Beauty from the Far East

Depending on the variety, Zimmerazaleas bloom from August to April. Azaleas were once considered their own botanical genus, but today they belong to the genus Rhododendron, and there are now over 100 different varieties of Zimmerazalea.

The over 100 varieties of Zimmerazalea range from A like "Adonia" to Z like "Zoe" and offer an endless spectrum of colors. From elegant white, fiery red, yellow, pink, or even peach—everything is included. The flowers differ not only in color but also in shape. Some Zimmerazaleas have wide-open trumpet-shaped flowers, while others have more tubular blooms. Each plant is unique, which makes the over 100 varieties of Zimmerazalea so exceptional. The blooming times of the different varieties are just as diverse as the color and shape of the flowers. The variety "Eleonore" blooms in January, while "Paloma" blooms in August.

A Zimmerazalea loves drinking lime-free water, and it's essential to provide it with just that. There are two good options for this. One option is rainwater, which is free and perfect for the Zimmerazalea. Another alternative, if rainwater isn't available, is to boil tap water and let it cool down. However, standing water should always be avoided. Even though Zimmerazaleas enjoy drinking water, the root balls can quickly start to rot if they remain in water for too long.
