Spring at Your Doorstep – Time for Decoration

When the days start getting longer, the air smells like spring, and the sun comes out again, it’s time to welcome spring right at your doorstep. After all, the front door is your ultimate calling card.

Especially in front of the entrance, decoration plays a key role. In spring, fresh early bloomers lift the mood and bring a splash of color into play — and we’ve certainly waited long enough for that throughout the winter.

Green Decoration at the Door

Right by the front door, a classic wreath definitely belongs. You can either buy one pre-made from a specialty store or make it yourself. Boxwood is perfect for spring decoration and can be easily wrapped around a plastic ring. As a little extra, you can weave fresh spring twigs from your garden into the wreath. If you don’t have spring twigs at home, you can also get them at a garden center.

Here’s a little tip: empty eggshells can be planted and carefully incorporated into the wreath. This way, little spring messengers like daffodils and grape hyacinths add a splash of color to your front door.

Colorful Decoration in Front of the Door

To make sure it’s not just about the wreath on the door, planted containers also come into play. These can be classic flower pots from a garden center, planted with fresh spring bloomers like daffodils and hyacinths. Or how about a tiered stand? It can be individually decorated with all kinds of colors and offers an eye-catcher even in a small space.

Old drawers can also be wonderfully upcycled and planted. To prevent the wood from getting soaked, you can line the inside with foil. Then the drawers can be perfectly planted and make a great impression right at the front door.

Daffodils, grape hyacinths, primroses, or pansies all fit well in the drawers or any other planting containers. The rule is: the more colorful, the better! Spring will be vibrant!

Colorful Hidden Gems in Front of the Door

It doesn’t always have to be the classic spring flowers like hyacinths and daffodils. There are some early bloomers that are true hidden gems. These include mainly iris, scilla (blue star), and chinodoxa (glory-of-the-snow). But the fritillaria (chess flower) and crown imperial also create a special eye-catcher by the front door.

To really welcome spring, you can wonderfully combine these hidden gems with the old favorites. A planted bowl with grape hyacinth, blue star, spring snowflake, and violets creates a harmonious color scheme and unity in the overall look.

For those who love it really colorful, planting daffodils, hyacinths, tulips, and primroses together in one container works perfectly. These come in a wide range of colors from yellow through red to blue and violet.
