The Alpine clematis (Clematis alpina) is a creeping, climbing, deciduous plant with decorative, silvery-white fruits. It produces blue-violet, bell-shaped flowers from May to June. The Alpine clematis also has pinnate, medium green leaves. In a semi-shady to shady location with well-drained, humus-rich, loose soil, it usually reaches a height of around 3 metres and grows to a width of around 1.5 metres.

Alpine clematis is a creeping, climbing plant which can reach a height of 0.5 - 3 m and a width of 1 - 1.5 m.

The deciduous leaves of the Alpine clematis are medium green, pinnate, opposite, coarsely serrated.

Flower

The blue-violet, bell-shaped flowers appear from May to June.

Fruit

The silvery-white fruits of Clematis alpina are particularly decorative. These appear from August.

Root

Clematis alpina is a shallow-rooting plant and, depending on the soil, forms finely branched roots.

Location

Preferred location in semi-shady to shady position.

Frost hardiness

The Alpine clematis has good frost hardiness.

Water

Water regularly and allow the soil to dry out in the meantime.

Care

- A slow-release fertiliser can be used in spring. This releases the nutrients slowly and continuously so that the plant is evenly supplied over a longer period of time.
- Watering less frequently, but thoroughly and thoroughly, encourages the plant roots to penetrate deeper into the soil. This enables the plant to survive dry periods better.

The Alpine clematis sets beautiful accents together with:
Pompoms, tall woodland honeysuckle, shield fern.

Planting time

Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the soil is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).
