The Common beech 'Dawyck Gold' (Fagus sylvatica) is a columnar, slender, deciduous small tree with decorative, egg-shaped, light green leaves. The golden-yellow shoots are also an interesting sight. It also produces brown fruit from September. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, humus-rich, nutrient-rich soil, it usually reaches a height of around 12 metres and grows to a width of around 3 metres.
