With its medium green leaves, the Galingale (Cyperus longus) is a highly decorative aquatic plant that is particularly suitable for use in pots, rock gardens, ponds, bathing areas, cut edges, pond edges and streams. Red-brown flowers appear from July to September. It prefers humus-rich soil in a sunny to semi-shady position. The Galingale is well tolerant of frost in sheltered locations. The upright, runner-forming plant usually reaches a height of approx. 1 metre.
