The Italian cypress 'Stricta' (Cupressus sempervirens) is a tree that grows columnar, slender and usually reaches a height of around 20 metres and a width of around 2.5 metres. Its scale-like leaves are dark green in colour. It prefers well-drained, nutrient-rich soil in a sunny, sheltered position.

Italian cypress 'Stricta' is a columnar and slender growing tree with an opaque crown. It usually reaches a height of 15 - 20 m and is approx. 1.5 - 2.5 m wide. As a rule, it grows 40 - 60 cm per year.

Leaves

The Italian cypress 'Stricta' is evergreen. Its needles are dark green, scale-like.

Bark

Dark grey, striped, torn bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

Fruit

Brown, round cones. The young cones have a green colour.

Location

Preferred location in a sunny, sheltered position.

Frost hardiness

Winter protection is required in unprotected areas of the garden.
Potted plants are best overwintered in a frost-free, bright place.
