The Paper-bark maple (Acer griseum) is a loose, picturesque large shrub that produces pale yellow flowers arranged in umbels. They appear in May. These produce red-brown winged fruits. The Paper-bark maple also has dark green leaves with three teeth. The amber-yellow shoots are also an interesting sight. Its bark is brown, rolling. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, weakly acidic soil, it usually reaches a height of around 10 metres and grows to a width of around 5 metres.

Leaves

The deciduous leaves of the Paper-bark maples are dark green, trifoliate, opposite, slightly lobed. They are about 3 - 5 cm in size. Amber-coloured shoots. Paper-bark maple turns bright scarlet in autumn.

Bark

Brown, rolling bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

Flower

The light yellow flowers of Paper-bark maple appear in umbels in May.
