The Japanese maple 'Orange Dream' (Acer palmatum) is an upright, multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub with decorative, green leaves with a light orange edge. The orange-coloured shoots are also an interesting sight. It also bears purple-red flowers arranged in clusters in May. These produce red-brown winged fruits. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, humus-rich soil, it usually reaches a height of around 4 metres and grows to a width of around 2.5 metres.

Growth

Japanese maple 'Orange Dream' is an upright and multi-stemmed shrub. It usually reaches a height of 3 - 4 m and is approx. 2 - 2.5 m wide. It usually grows 5 - 10 cm per year.

Leaves

High leaf ornamental value. The deciduous leaves of the Japanese maple 'Orange Dream's are green, opposite, lobed and have a light orange margin. They are about 8 - 10 cm tall. Orange-coloured, early shoots. Japanese maple 'Orange Dream' turns bright golden yellow in autumn.

The purple-red flowers of the Japanese maple 'Orange Dream' appear in clusters in May.

Root

Acer palmatum 'Orange Dream' is a shallow-rooted plant and, depending on the soil, forms finely branched roots.
