The Serbian spruce 'Minima' (Picea omorika) is a large tree that grows conical and slender and usually reaches a height of approx. 80 cm and a width of approx. 1.2 metres. Its needle-shaped, shiny leaves are dark green or blue-green in colour. This shrub is well tolerant of frost and prefers well-drained soil in a sunny position.

Serbian spruce 'Minima' is a conical and slender growing large tree. It usually reaches a height of 60 - 80 cm and is approx. 1 - 1.2 m wide.

Leaves

The Serbian spruce 'Minima' is evergreen. Its needles are dark green, blue-green, glossy.

Bark

Copper-brown, scaly bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

Fruit

Light brown, oval cones. The young cones have a purple-violet colour.

Root

Picea omorika 'Minima' is a shallow-rooted tree.

Location

Preferred location in a sunny position.

The Serbian spruce 'Minima' has good frost hardiness.

Care

- This plant is susceptible to snow pressure. In snowy areas, it is therefore advisable to wrap the branches with string. Otherwise, they may split apart and may not fully recover. When the snow season is over, the twine must of course be removed.
- This plant does not tolerate heavy soil. If necessary, the soil structure can be improved when planting by working in sand and mature compost.

Planting time

Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the soil is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).
