With its medium green leaf colouring, Eulalia 'China' (Miscanthus sinensis) is a decorative design element in the garden, which also stands out with its upright growth. The red panicles of flowers adorn this grass from summer onwards. It feels most at home in a sunny to semi-shady location with a well-drained, humus-rich, nutrient-rich soil. In favourable conditions, this hardy grass reaches a height of approx. 1.6 m and grows up to 1.2 m wide.

The deciduous leaves of Eulalia 'China' are medium green, linear. Eulalia 'China' turns bright red in autumn.

Flower

The red flowers of Eulalia 'China' appear in panicles from August to October.

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady position.

The Eulalia 'China' has good frost hardiness.

Use

Cut, solitary, rock garden, cottage garden

This plant should not be cut back in autumn, as it looks pretty in winter, or the dead plant parts serve as winter protection. Only prune in spring before new shoots appear.
