The Rhododendron (Rhododendron minus) produces a veritable sea of carmine-red flowers from the end of May to mid-June. Its evergreen foliage is dark green. This upright, compact-growing shrub usually reaches a height of 0.8 - 1.1 m and a width of 0.8 to 1.5 m. A semi-shady (to shady) location and humus-rich, lime-free soil create optimum conditions for healthy growth. The Rhododendron is well tolerant of frost.
