'Köstliche von Charneux' is a classic Belgian pear, highly prized for its excellent flavor, consistent yields, and good storage. The "CAC" label means you're getting certified, high-quality plant material.

Growth

A medium to strong growing, deciduous fruit tree that forms a pyramid-shaped to broad crown. Typically reaches 3-5 m (10-16 ft) high and wide, depending on rootstock and pruning.

Leaf

Green, oval, turning yellow in fall.

Flower

Abundant white flowers in April-May. Needs a pollinator like 'Conference' or 'Williams Christ'.

Fruit

Medium to large, elongated, bottle-shaped pears. The skin is smooth, yellowish-green, often with a red blush. The flesh is fine, juicy, very sweet, and aromatic, with a melting texture.

Ripening: Harvest in mid-September to early October. Ready to eat from October, stores well until December/January.

Location

Prefers full sun for the best fruit quality.

Soil

Thrives in deep, fertile, moist, well-drained loamy soils.

Water

Medium water needs. Keep consistently moist, especially during dry spells and fruit development.

Frost hardiness

Good frost hardiness (USDA Zones 5-8).

Use

Excellent for fresh eating, also good for preserves and baking. Great for home gardens.

Care

Moderate maintenance. Prune in winter for shape and fruit production. Generally good disease resistance, but watch for pear scab.

Planting time

Best planted in fall (October-November) or early spring (March-April) when dormant.
