With its medium green leaf colouring, Amur silver grass 'Robustus' (Miscanthus sacchariflorus) is a decorative design element in the garden, which also stands out with its upright, dense and rhizome-forming growth. The silver-white flower panicles adorn this grass from autumn onwards. It feels most at home in a sunny to semi-shady location. In favourable conditions, this grass reaches a height of approx. 1.3 m and grows up to 80 cm wide.

The wintergreen leaves of Amur silver grass 'Robustus' are medium green, linear. Amur silver grass 'Robustus' turns bright red-brown in autumn.

Flower

The silvery-white flowers of Amur silver grass 'Robustus' appear in panicles from September to November. These grow to about 20 cm tall.

Location

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady position.

Cutting, solitary, rock garden, cottage garden, pond edge

Care

This plant should not be cut back in autumn as it looks pretty in winter or the dead plant parts serve as winter protection. Only prune in spring before new shoots appear.

Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the soil is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).
