The Russian arbor-vitae (Microbiota decussata) is a small shrub that grows broadly and usually reaches a height of around 60 cm and a width of around 2 metres. Its scale-like leaves have a medium green colour. They turn a beautiful bronze colour in winter. This shrub is well tolerant of frost and prefers humusy, loamy soil in a sunny to semi-shady position.

Russian arbor-vitae is a spreading small shrub. It usually reaches a height of 30 - 60 cm and is approx. 1.5 - 2 m wide. It usually grows 2 - 3 cm per year.

Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the soil is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).
