Russian arbor-vitae is a spreading small shrub. It usually reaches a height of 30 - 60 cm and is approx. 1.5 - 2 m wide. It usually grows 2 - 3 cm per year.

The Russian arbor-vitae is evergreen. Its needles are medium green, opposite, scale-shaped. With its bronze-coloured foliage, it sets beautiful accents in winter.

The fruits of Microbiota decussata are particularly decorative.

Microbiota decussata is a heartroot.

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady position.

The Russian arbor-vitae has good frost hardiness.

Standard container plant soil.
Normal soil.

Tub, solitary, ground cover, landscape

The plant needs plenty of water. Do not allow the soil to dry out.

This plant is susceptible to snow pressure. In snowy areas, it is therefore advisable to wrap the branches with string. Otherwise, they may split apart and not fully recover. When the snow season is over, the strings must of course be removed again.

This plant is tolerant of pruning.

Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the soil is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).
