The Common redcurrant 'Rovada' (Ribes rubrum) produces light red, large berries. These are firm and sweet and sour in flavour. Well-drained, nutrient-rich soil and a sunny to semi-shady location create the ideal conditions for a high-yielding harvest from July. Its green flowers are a beautiful sight.

Growth

Common redcurrant 'Rovada' is a densely growing small shrub that can reach a height of 1 - 1.5 metres and a width of 0.8 - 1.2 metres. It usually grows 20 - 40 cm per year.

The deciduous leaves of Common redcurrant 'Rovada' are medium green in colour. Common redcurrant 'Rovada' turns bright yellow in autumn.

Bark

Brown, smooth bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

Flower

The green flowers appear from May to the beginning of June.

Fruit

The light red, large berries have a sweet and sour flavour. The white-red flesh is firm. Ripening time from July.

Location

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady position.
