The Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) is a large tree that grows broadly in a conical shape and usually reaches a height of around 50 metres and a width of around 12 metres. Its needle-shaped leaves are grey-green in colour. This shrub is well tolerant of frost and prefers well-drained, humus-rich, loose, nutrient-rich, sandy, loamy soil in a sunny to semi-shady position.
