Picea orientalis 'Aureospicata'

Caucasus.

Oriental spruce 'Aureospicata' is a conical and loosely growing small tree. It usually reaches a height of 10 - 12 m and is approx. 4.5 - 5.5 m wide. Slow growing. Usually grows 10 - 15 cm per year.

The Oriental spruce 'Aureospicata' is evergreen. Its needles are medium green. Light yellow shoots.

Dark brown, scale-like bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

Brown, oval cones. The young cones have a purple-violet colour.

Picea orientalis 'Aureospicata' is a shallow-rooting plant.

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady position.

The Oriental spruce 'Aureospicata' has good frost hardiness.

Normal soil.

The plant has a medium water requirement.

- This plant is susceptible to snow pressure. In snowy areas, it is therefore advisable to wrap the branches with string. Otherwise, they may split apart and not fully recover. When the snow season is over, the twine must of course be removed.
- In spring, a slow-release fertiliser can be used. This releases the nutrients slowly and continuously so that the plant is evenly supplied over a longer period of time.

No pruning is necessary for this plant.

Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the ground is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).
