The Japanese cherry 'Amanogawa' (Prunus serrulata) is a columnar, tight, large shrub with decorative, black, oval, round fruits. These exude a light fragrance. It produces light pink, bowl-shaped flowers from April to May. The Japanese cherry 'Amanogawa' also has egg-shaped, lanceolate, dark green leaves. The bronze-coloured shoots are also an interesting sight. In a sunny location with well-drained, calcareous soil, it usually reaches a height of around 7 metres and grows to a width of around 2 metres.

Light brown bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

The light pink, cupped flowers are semi-double and appear from April to May. They are slightly fragrant.
