The Sea buckthorn 'Leikora' (Hippophae rhamnoides) produces orange-red berries. These are juicy and tart, with an aromatic flavour. Well-drained, calcareous, sandy soil and a sunny location create the ideal conditions for a high-yield harvest from August.

Growth

Sea buckthorn 'Leikora' is a spreading and loosely growing large shrub that can reach a height of 3 - 5 metres and a width of 2 - 3 metres. It usually grows 20 - 40 cm per year.

The shoots of Hippophae rhamnoides 'Leikora' are spiny.

The deciduous leaves of the Sea buckthorn 'Leikora's are grey-green, lanceolate, alternate. They are about 2 - 5 cm in size. Long adherent.

Fruit

The orange-red berries have a tart, aromatic flavour. The flesh of these oval berries is juicy. Ripening time from August.

Hippophae rhamnoides 'Leikora' is a shallow-rooted or deep-rooted plant and, depending on the soil, forms runner-forming roots.
