The Zigzag Shrub – A Decorative All-rounder for the Garden and Home

The Zigzag Shrub has now made its way into our gardens and homes. It hasn't been around for very long, but it has already become particularly popular.

With its unique appearance, the Zigzag Shrub is a striking feature in the garden, on the balcony, on the terrace, or on the windowsill in your home.

Picturesque Origin

The Zigzag Shrub is a unique plant. Not only does it look extraordinary, but it also has an interesting origin. The plant belongs to the Escalloniaceae family, which includes more than 130 species. The members of the Escalloniaceae family are found in the Himalayas, southern China, northern Australia, New Zealand, and in Central and South America. The Zigzag Shrub is a true New Zealander, primarily found in the bushes and forests of New Zealand.

Summer Vacation in the Garden

The Zigzag Shrub has become a very popular houseplant with us. Its unique appearance makes it a special eye-catching feature. However, the Zigzag Shrub can also enhance the garden's visual appeal. In the garden or on the balcony, the Zigzag Shrub can enjoy its summer vacation in partial shade. As soon as the weather turns cold, its vacation ends, and the Zigzag Shrub should be placed in a cool, partially sunny spot on the windowsill.

A Harmless Contemporary

It is often the case that the most beautiful and extraordinary plants have a catch. And far too often, that catch means the plant is partially or entirely toxic, which significantly limits its cultivation. However, with the Zigzag Shrub, there’s good news: this exceptional plant is not toxic. Neither the leaves, flowers, nor branches contain harmful substances. Still, it’s important to note that the Zigzag Shrub is not an edible plant. The red fruits are also inedible, so it’s best to avoid consuming them. Fortunately, this isn't a big issue, as the shrub doesn't actually taste good.
