Plant of the Month: Tilia tomentosa 'Brabant'

The Silver Linden 'Brabant' (Tilia tomentosa 'Brabant') produces pale yellow, very pleasantly fragrant blossoms from July to August. This deciduous tree is a late-flowering, bee- and insect-friendly species. Its leaves are heart-shaped, matte, and alternately arranged in a silver-green hue. In autumn, the Silver Linden displays a vibrant color.

When exposed to strong sunlight, Tilia tomentosa 'Brabant' turns its leaves to show their silvery underside towards the sun.

Its gray, smooth bark makes this silver linden an absolute eye-catcher in any garden. The Silver Linden is a beautiful park tree that has also established itself well as an urban street tree. It reaches a width of 12-20 meters and a height of 20-30 meters. Annually, Tilia tomentosa 'Brabant' grows by 30-40 cm.
