A Year of Blooms in the Garden – Flower Bulbs for Every Season

Do you dream of a colorful garden all year round? With flower bulbs, you can ensure this abundance of blooms. There are bulb and tuber plants for every season.

Gardens full of blossoms in summer are a familiar sight, and the delicate spring greetings of early bloomers are also not uncommon. But with flower bulbs and tubers, you can also turn the dreary seasons into a colorful delight. Ensure a year of blooms in your garden with flower bulbs!

The Early Risers Among the Flower Bulbs

Flower bulbs are storage and survival organs protected by lower leaves or scales. This allows them to withstand even frost periods. These so-called geophytes are the first to poke their heads out of the ground, bringing color to the garden as early as late winter. Whether it's crocus, snowdrop, grape hyacinth, or winter aconite – they are not afraid of snow and cold. While other plants are dormant, they evoke the first feelings of spring.

From Spring to Summer

The late winter flower carpets are followed by spring bloomers like tulips, daffodils, and March cups. They too delight with their colorful flower heads even before the calendar marks the beginning of spring. For several months, they adorn the garden with their variety of colors and shapes until they retreat and make way for the summer blooms. Spring bloomers are planted in autumn. Between spring and summer, the magnificent relatives of the edible onion and chives thrive. Ornamental alliums impress with sometimes enormous flower globes that are simply unmissable. With this dominant appearance, they are an absolute eye-catcher in any perennial bed. Combined with gaura, sage, or veronica, they create a delightful picture in summer. But summer has much more color to offer.

Colorful Blooms in Summer and Autumn

Floral wonders like amaryllis, dahlia, gladiolus, and lily enjoy the warm sunshine in the garden. The foxtail lily, with its unusually long flower stalk, also deserves a prominent place in the bed, similar to ornamental alliums. Last but not least, the canna can also spend the summer in the garden, complementing the plant arrangement with elegance and grace. The beautiful bracts of the calla come in all sorts of colors and color combinations. In autumn, however, most of these flowers are dug up again and prepared for overwintering. Now it's the turn of autumn crocuses and cyclamen, which transform the garden into a colorful delight well into the dark season. In winter, you can still enjoy the autumn crocus, which is particularly robust and endures even on cold days.
