Christmas Light Gardens

During the Advent and Christmas season, even the garden can glow with festive lights. There are various types of illuminations, whether they are string lights, ground spikes, nets, or three-dimensional figures like reindeer sleighs, Christmas trees, stars, Santa Claus, and more. Most Christmas garden illuminations are determined by electric lights. However, those who prefer a completely natural charm can also create a cozy atmosphere with large garden lanterns. In these, thick real wax candles or, alternatively, LED real wax candles flicker. With the former, it is crucial to ensure that no easily flammable materials are in the immediate vicinity of the lantern.

The electrical lights for the festive garden must absolutely be approved for outdoor use. Whether lighting is suitable for outdoors can be identified by one of these protection classes: IP 44, 56, or 66. Because gutters rarely leak nowadays, icicles are hardly a typical sight even in bitter winter. Those who miss this nostalgic image can help out with appropriately shaped string lights. These are particularly impressive when their LED lamps imitate a snowfall effect.

LED lights are also particularly efficient and are therefore generally recommended as illuminants. Especially when making a new purchase, consider how much wattage different light sources consume. Because anyone who completely envelops the exterior of their house with lights can face a hefty electricity bill. If you like, you can also develop an extraordinary musically accompanied light show with loudspeakers and corresponding computer programs, thus creating a very special winter light garden. Such choreographies can be realized with the help of a so-called Light Control System. If you can and want to do without the musical accompaniment, you can also coordinate your Christmas lights via a home automation system. This allows the lights to be timed so that they either automatically switch on or off from a certain degree of twilight, or are programmed via a timer. For the former, you naturally also need appropriate brightness sensors. With the help of an analog or digital timer, which plugs into the outdoor socket, the lights in the garden can also be automated without a smart home system. However, in this case, as with the electrical lighting itself, attention should be paid to the outdoor capability of the timer.

Alternatively, solar lights are also suitable for a festively decorated garden. They already have a built-in dusk sensor and switch on and off automatically. In addition, solar lights have the advantage that they can be operated independently of a power outlet. This allows you to illuminate a small fir tree in the middle of the garden without needing excessively long cables. Luminous blossom string lights are also a nice touch, perfect for decorating leafless woody plants in the winter garden.
