Upcycling im Garten – Shabby UND Chic

Rubber boots are nothing special in the garden, right? Far from it! These gardening classics aren't just for wearing; quite the opposite. Upcycling is about giving old items new purpose, and in the garden, rubber boots quickly become cool planters.

Shabby Chic has made its way as a trend not just into homes, but also into gardens. And with upcycling, old things don't just stay "shabby," they become "chic" again! Whether it's rubber boots, Grandma's old dresser, or tin cans, upcycling knows no limits.

Small but Effective

If you want to try out upcycling on a small scale before tackling Grandma's old dresser, you can start small by collecting old kitchen sieves, bowls, wine glasses, and wooden boxes. What do these dusty old cellar items have in common? They can all be transformed into cool planters with minimal effort.

For instance, with a little spray paint, old kitchen sieves can quickly become stylish hanging baskets that look great on your balcony or patio. Wine glasses can be turned into cool table decorations, and wooden boxes, once painted and filled with succulents, won't look boring anymore. There are no limits to your creativity!

More Than Just Rubbish

It's often during estate clear-outs that the greatest treasures emerge. Old dressers, worn-out armchairs, dented pots, and scratched wooden doors don't have to end up as trash. Instead, with a little makeover called upcycling, they can make a completely new impression in the garden.

How about repainting an old door and using it as garden decor? You can hang pictures on it, and a few flowers in front of or on the door will transform the restyled wooden door into a real eye-catcher. Old dressers or cabinets can also be easily repainted and placed in the garden. Imagine a planted drawer here, a shelf for planters and gardening tools there. These old treasures are not only pretty but also useful. Upcycling is easy and a lot of fun!

The Right Companions

If you truly want to embrace Shabby Chic and showcase your upcycled treasures, opt for very specific plants. Especially among roses, there are several candidates that really bring out the romantic style of Shabby Chic. Tea roses and hollyhocks are at the forefront. But lavender, clematis, and hydrangeas also fit perfectly into this romantic aesthetic.

Upcycling offers a chance to make a statement against the throwaway society and show that old things aren't necessarily bad. With upcycling, many garden dreams can come true.
