Spookily Beautiful Table Garland from Physalis

Halloween has long been a firm part of our traditions, and spooky Halloween decorations are a must-have here too. But since every other house has a carved pumpkin on the doorstep these days, something unique is needed.

Chinese lantern plants (Physalis) bear beautiful orange lanterns in autumn that look great not only in the garden. These small fruit bladders (which is what they actually are) can be used to create a lot of creative decorations. Besides the lanterns, you'll only need a few materials:

- Wire
- Chinese Lanterns (Physalis)
- Black permanent marker
- Two cypress plants in pots or other small plants
- Two wooden skewers
- White pebbles
- Glue
- Scissors

Spooky Little Faces

First, paint creepy faces on the small orange lanterns (Physalis). After all, the garland is supposed to be spookily beautiful, right? Just grab a black permanent marker and draw on the little lanterns. The scarier the faces, the better! Then, tie the lanterns onto the wire, making sure all the faces are turned in one direction. Next, wrap one end of the wire around a wooden skewer and secure it tightly.

A Feast in the Pot

Next, insert the wooden skewers into two flowerpots holding small cypress plants. Position the cypress plants far enough apart so that the garland with the small lanterns is pulled taut, but the wire in the middle can have a slight sag. If your front door is covered, the garland can also be placed outside it. Incidentally, hedges can also be beautifully decorated with this garland. The Chinese lantern plant's lanterns are simply a fantastic autumn decoration that you definitely shouldn't miss out on.

The Finishing Touch

You can also fill the pots with the cypress plants with small pebbles. These can be painted with little black bats beforehand to enhance the spookily beautiful Halloween atmosphere in your front garden or on your table. If you're using light-colored outer pots, you can even draw spiderwebs on them with a permanent marker.

Planted flower pots should not lose too much soil when watered. Therefore, a drainage mesh or a piece of clay should be placed over the drainage hole.
