The Flower Bed – A Showstopper in Red and Pink

Anyone looking to redesign their flower bed first faces the question: which colors should go into the flower bed, and how should they be combined? Red and pink flowers can be perfectly combined in the garden.

Even though red and pink were once considered incompatible, they make a great pair in the garden. When combined and used correctly, the two colors complement each other and make each other shine.

The Start of Spring

The start of the new gardening year already turns the flower bed into a sea of red and pink flowers. Nature has the right flowers for every season, and the spring flowers already bring plenty of color to the flower bed early on. The viburnum impresses with its delicate pink blooms. In addition, the flowers emit a sweet almond scent, making the start of the new gardening year even more beautiful. Lilacs belong to spring just like sunflowers belong to autumn. And with their soft pink flowers, they fit perfectly into the springtime garden design. As spring slowly comes to an end and summer is just around the corner, a very special combination makes its appearance. The tulip is the classic spring harbinger. Red tulips paired with pink wallflower look particularly lovely in the flower bed. For a smooth transition from spring to summer, some peonies will do the trick. You can also find pink daisies.

Colorful Summer and Vibrant Autumn

The purple coneflower and red yarrow make a fantastic duo in the flower bed during the summer. To ensure that the red doesn’t dominate the flower bed, a thistle can be planted between the two plants to provide balance. It softens the intensity of the design and gives the flower bed a more peaceful feel. For those who want to enjoy their summer bed for a longer period, the gaillardia is a great addition to the garden. This plant also attracts plenty of bees and bumblebees, which happily feast on it. In late summer, the monarda makes its big appearance, and together with asters in pink and red, they beautifully wrap up the summer. In autumn, the heather takes center stage, with its vibrant colors making a striking impression.

The Grand Finale in Winter

As the gardening year comes to an end, many gardens appear grey and dull. However, this doesn't have to be the case, as nature has thoughtfully provided some colorful wonders for the winter. The Christmas rose, for example, is a classic winter bloom. With its elegant flowers in red and pink, it adds small splashes of color to the garden. Speaking of which, the witch hazel also shines in winter, displaying vibrant red blooms. And why should it always be flowers? Dogwood doesn’t need them to bring color to the garden. The young shoots appear in a deep red, making the grey winter a little more colorful. For those who don’t need flamboyant blooms even in autumn, the red autumn foliage is a perfect choice. It remains on the shrubs and trees through winter, bringing warmth to the cold season.
