The evergreen bow tie flower – guaranteed color

If you're looking for a reliable plant for your garden, the evergreen bow tie flower is the right choice. As its name suggests, it guarantees always-green accents in the garden.

The evergreen bow tie flower is a true enrichment for the garden. It is low-maintenance and adds vibrant color to the garden. It thrives best in a rock garden.

The mountain climber among plants

The evergreen bow tie flower belongs to the crucifer family and the genus of bow tie flowers. This genus includes around 40 different species, one of which is the evergreen bow tie flower. Originally, the plant with its small flowers is native to the mountainous regions of Southern Europe and thrives particularly well on stones. Mineral-sandy and calcareous soils provide the optimal ground for the evergreen bow tie flower to grow.

Undemanding southern beauty

The evergreen bow tie flower is one of the few plants that prefers dry conditions rather than being too moist. Therefore, it only requires minimal watering. Additionally, the evergreen bow tie flower is a true sun lover. Full sun locations are optimal, but the plant can also tolerate a partially shaded spot. Otherwise, the evergreen bow tie flower is ideal as a rock garden plant to create colorful floral carpets. However, caution is needed: if the soil's nutrient content is too high, the plant tends to become invasive.

Sometimes temperamental but always a showstopper

The evergreen bow tie flower thrives in all types of rock gardens, on wall tops, or in pots. Environmental stressors like exhaust fumes or other pollutants hardly affect this robust southern plant, making it an ideal city plant—a wallflower in the big city. As bed partners, other spring-blooming perennials like blue cushion or moss phlox are suitable. However, as undemanding as the evergreen bow tie flower is, it can become very temperamental if a neighbor gets too close. It is highly sensitive to competition in the bed and tends to spread out to mark its territory. With a distance of at least 30 to 40 centimeters, it gets along well with other neighbors.
