Water Features in the Garden – The Best Way to Cool Down in Summer

Water features in the garden aren't just pretty to look at and provide peace and relaxation. Especially in summer, water features can also be the perfect way to cool down. And that goes for everyone, big or small, animal or human.

You can buy water features at specialty stores, and they're quick to install. But if you're feeling creative, you can also integrate DIY water features into your garden. Anything you like is allowed.

Cooling Down in Summer

Often, it doesn't even have to be a grand fountain or a beautifully designed stream. When temperatures crack the 30-degree mark and the sun blazes down, even the smallest bit of cooling is a welcome relief from the summer heat. A simple garden hose quickly becomes a wildly spitting water snake, or a lawn sprinkler turns into a test of courage. Buckets and water bowls cool your feet while you enjoy ice-cold lemonade on the patio. And with water balloons, water guns, sponges, and more, the coolest water fights can be had. Water is simply a must-have in summer.

A Waterfall in the Garden

You can bring a vacation feeling to your own garden with a waterfall combined with a water basin. Especially in summer, when the days are longer and you can relax on the patio late into the night, waterfalls are a stylish and beautiful alternative to a bubbling fountain. Waterfalls are powered by a submersible pump. Kids will have a lot of fun holding their hands under the waterfall, and they'll also get to know the element of water better. And if the sight of cool water isn't enough for you in summer, you can always just hold your foot under the waterfall. Or: how about a waterfall in your swimming pond?

The Pretty Classic

The classic garden water feature remains the bubbling stone. It's no wonder, as there's something fascinating about water bubbling up from a stone. This not only magically attracts children, but it's also captivating and relaxing for adults.

You can easily refresh yourself at a bubbling stone on the patio or next to a seating area in summer. Just briefly rest your wrists on the wet stone or dip your feet into the collection basin. The only important rule for all garden water features is this: dirty hands and feet should be washed in the bathroom, not in the water feature itself. Contamination and dirt could damage the pump, putting an end to the cool water in summer.
