Peace Lily - Planting in a Container

The peace lily is said to have an above-average air-purifying effect. However, it is not just popular for this reason. This green houseplant is also decorative with its simple flowers and very easy to care for.

This popular houseplant thrives best when it is consistently well-watered. To ensure this, planting it in a flowerpot with a water reservoir is highly recommended. Such self-watering pots are available in various designs. In some, water is drawn up into the planting substrate through fabric strips or wicks.

Clay granulate is ideally suited for planting the peace lily. It is available in various types and ensures that the roots of this tropical plant are always well supplied with oxygen. At the same time, this water-retaining substrate ensures an adequate supply of water.
Assemble your self-watering flowerpot according to the instructions. If the drainage holes are too large and the granulate could fall through, simply place a few clay shards over them. Then, fill in a layer of the clay granulate.

Carefully remove the peace lily from its original pot and place it into the new one. Fill the gaps around it with the clay granulate. You can gently shake the pot from time to time to ensure there are no air pockets.
The houseplant should be firmly seated in the pot and should not wobble.

Many self-watering plant containers include a water level indicator. Check to ensure that it is functioning properly. Make sure the indicator stick is not stuck and insert it into the designated spot.

Water the peace lily with enough room-temperature water until the water level indicator shows "max."
The peace lily prefers a bright spot without direct sunlight. The houseplant feels most comfortable at temperatures around 18 to 22 degrees Celsius.
