The Male fern 'Barnesii' (Dryopteris filix-mas) with its feathery, dark green leaf fronds is a decorative design element in the garden. It feels most at home in a semi-shady to shady location with a well-drained, humus-rich soil. In favourable conditions, this hardy fern reaches a height of approx. 1 m and grows up to 60 cm wide.
