The Zilverkaars 'Atropurpurea' (Actaea simplex) is an upright perennial with decorative, pinnate, purple-violet leaves. From September to October, it bears white flowers arranged in panicles with a pleasant fragrance. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained soil, it usually reaches a height of around 1.8 metres and grows to around 1 metre wide. The Zilverkaars 'Atropurpurea' is well tolerant of frost.
