'Swan Lake' is an elegant meadow sage cultivar prized for its upright spikes of pure white flowers. It brings a crisp, clean vertical accent and extended bloom to sunny borders, attracting pollinators with its bright display.

Growth

An upright, clump-forming herbaceous perennial. It typically reaches 50-70 cm (20-28 inches) in height and 30-40 cm (12-16 inches) in spread.

Leaf

Features textured, basal rosettes of mid-green, ovate leaves.

Flower

Produces numerous spikes of densely packed, pure white flowers. It blooms profusely from early to mid-summer (June-July), with potential rebloom if deadheaded.

Location

Thrives best in full sun for optimal flowering and robust growth.

Frost hardiness

Excellent (USDA Zones 3-8), very cold-hardy.

Soil

Prefers well-drained, average to fertile soil. It tolerates various soil types, including sandy or loamy.

Water

Has a medium water requirement. It's moderately drought-tolerant once established but benefits from occasional watering during dry spells.

Use

Ideal for perennial borders, cottage gardens, mass plantings, or containers. Excellent for attracting bees and butterflies and providing vertical interest.

Care

Low maintenance. Deadhead spent flower spikes to encourage tidiness and potential rebloom. A cutback after the first flush can promote bushier growth.

Planting time

Best planted in autumn or early spring.
